Barrett’s esophagus
Looking for info and help with Barret’s esophagus. I can’t figure out just how serious this is. I have read way too much online! I don’t really know how strict my diet really has to be. It is really stressful-. Does anyone here have it? And exactly how serious is it?

I thought all alcohol was a no no for those with PN. Thought the alcohol damages the sheathing of nerves.
That's exactly what I was suggesting to Aunt, who said she was purchasing Prilosec over the counter.
In The Acid Watcher Diet, Dr. Aviv says absolutely no wine, but gin and certain vodkas, e.g., potato based vodkas, are okay. I think I read that tequila is okay too, but I'm not sure. Check it out for ourself.
Freudian Typo - should be "yourself."
Very interesting! I’m going to try learning more about this Acid Watching. It may be a solution to the side effects of taking omeprazole, one of which may be damage to the nerves.
I’m also interested in learning about what happens to the digestion process when you reduce the acid which is a necessary part of digestion. This sounds interesting and may be a way to wean myself off taking omeprazole. Thanks for your insight.
I'm glad you found my comments useful. I'm going on three cruises (two postponed due to Covid) within the next year, and I'm trying to learn what I can eat and drink in small amounts without causing a resurgence of my Barrett's Esophagus. It's wonderful to share information with others who are going through similar experiences.
I agree with you!!!
. I had no pain or heartburn symptoms initially but after undergoing and ECG for eosinophilic esophagitis then I was diagnosed with Barrett's. Have been doing some reading on the internet and if one EE BE might be forthcoming or a part of it. However, I personally do not smoke or drink and from what I have read both of these lifestyle patterns greatly increase the chances of esophageal cancer. I have been taking omeprazole for about 5 years and it is wreaking hell with my bone density and kidneys. What to do? Is anyone in the same boat? I have read that even if diagnosed with Barrett's there is only a 1/2 % of getting diagnosed with esophageal cancer.
Chalk one up for Freud. Thanks for catching my typo!
Good morning, so did you have barrets and now you don't anymore? How long did it last and what exactly did you do? I'm freaking out
How long ago were you diagnosed with barrets? I'm freaking out 😟😟
