No, I was wrong about the dosage thankfully. He wants me to take a .25 mg tablet one time a day for only one week to see if it makes any difference in my anxiety level. He said also if that dosage causes me to get drowsy then I should break the pill in half. The point is not to make the drug cause me to sleep but just to take the edge off the anxiety so that I might be able to better tackle daily activities and feel a sense of accomplishment which should have a positive effect. I can break the pill in half if it causes too much drowsiness.
This may be testing to see if my regular anxiety medication is working or he needs to make a change, kind of a rule out process.
The Xanax experiment will only be for one week which is why I agreed to try it.
