Feedback on Linzess for Irritable Bowel-C or Chronic Constipation

I have both of the above-conditions. Took Linzess, (called Constella in Canada) and got terrible stomach pain. Feeling desperate and thinking about trying it one more time. Interested in hearing what kind of experiences other people have had with linaclotide/linzess.

My latest combo is Amitiza twice a day with Motegrity every 2-3 days. I ration Motegrity because of cost.
Motegrity for motility is for me a more “civilized “ treatment than using laxatives.
I never know if laxatives are going to do anything or cause a volcanic eruption!

I haven’t heard of Motegrity…what is it ? Is it only by prescription?? Apparently my insurance wouldn’t cover Amitzia. Does it help you??

Is that a prescription med? Have never heard of it but I’m going to ask to have it prescribed if so! Thnks for sharing what’s worked for you

Purelax is the less expensive CVS brand of Miralax. Also, I am gluten sensitive and have Sjogrens Syndrome. It is my belief that with Sjogrens, I have little saliva, which does not properly lubricate the esophagus and then the gut. I also have intestinal adhesions from a previous breakthrough into the gut from Motrin.

Oh goodness, how did they find you had the gut break due to Motrin? I never knew up until about 3 years ago that ibuprofen was damaging to liver /gut but I took it for over 10 years on very frequent basis for my menstrual pain and any other pain. I’ve had 2 colonoscopy’s but they never said they discovered anything other than removing a few polyps the second time. Oh and have redundant colon

An old post of mine. Never did go back to linzess. Go back and forth btwn Miralax and Senokot. Have had script for prucalopride which I never filled and now have a script for IBSrela which is what its called here in Cda and most likely will never be taken.
Recent colonoscopy totally normal.

after being hospitalized for an obstruction I swallowed the camera and the video revealed that the camera could not pass through one spot of scar tissue formed after the past episode of intestinal bleeding

@ajw1 - I found out about Motegrity here on Connect. There hasn’t been anything for motility on the market for years- previous motility drugs were taken off market due to serious side effects.
I find it works- not as irritating as Senokot etc and more predictable. I’m on Medicare and don’t qualify for discount coupons- it is expensive.
Amitiza works ok, I tried Linzess, but it didn’t work.

I have a tortuous colon and ibs-c. I’ve been prescribed linzess for several years now but it does NOT help. It’s sooo frustrating. I end up taking exlax when it gets to where I’ve tried everything else this will work but my stool often comes as diahrea with a lot of undigested food pieces . Although sometimes it just comes as solid stool that amounts to a large amount.

I know it’s terrible for my intestines to use these stimulant laxatives. I pretty much never go normally

I've dealt with this ALL my life,......until someone recommended Prunelax. It has been working great for me! I have a tortuous intestine. I'm 70 years old. I've suffered my entire life with constipation. I have way more intestine than I should for a person my size. I lived with it and took Bisacodyl off and on. The Prunlax is much gentler on the system and much more controllable than the chemicals. I did find that I need to take either 4 mini tabs, or 2 1/2 of the PruneMax. This keeps me going and my gastro Dr. has given her approval of this regimen. I take it every night around 7:30pm and have bowel movements the next morning. NEVER in my life has this happened. The Prunelax will change the color of the intestine but it is harmless. That's due to the senna. I hope this helps,............someone on this site gave me this info almost a year ago. I am so grateful. And you're right, the doctors give standard answers and don't treat the individual. That has been my experience for many many years. Jacque

I also saw Prunelax mentioned here awhile back and ordered it on Amazon. It works well for me too! I only use it when I need to, which is not all the time. I also use Trulance (plecanitide) on a regular basis.
