I am going to brag about one of my 70-something best friends here...she is busy focusing on what she can still do, and reinventing herself in the process.
Last August she lost her husband and best friend of 53 years, but we managed to convince her to still join us in Texas for the winter. They always traveled/camped together, and we often met for adventures in the Midwest in summer. She wants to continue to travel - but independently, not sharing our car & camper.
She sold her big truck and travel trailer to purchase a tiny house near us in Texas, so...yesterday she sent us a picture of her new tent, which she set up herself under her daughter's supervision. She has equipped it with cot, mattress, sleeping bag, lantern, battery operated cooler, and a bed for her Beagle! Now we are scheduling our first trip in 2 weeks. After the "shakedown" she plans to make solo trips to New York & maybe Washington state. If all goes well we will make a Southwestern adventure tour together next summer.
All this in spite of a limited budget and numerous health issues. Now, that's what I call taking lemons and making lemonade. I'll report back after our adventure, which will include between 14 and 20 people from 2 to 75!

I am always inspired by stories like these. It proves to me the ability for people to get past all kinds of things and have adventures in spite of circumstances.
