I have a blanket lifter that holds the bedding off my feet for the same reason. I've had to start taking my socks off when I sit in my recliner because it flares up my burning feet. It began with the balls of my feet, then moved to my toes, and most recently it's up to including my ankles. I'm sorry you're feeling that pain in your legs. It's hard to imagine what that feels like.

Sometimes when I put lidocaine cream on my feet they hurt enough less so I can go to sleep. I found Uber Numb on Amazon for a tenth of the one my neurologist prescribed. Medicare removed it from their list of covered meds, so I wouldn't be able to afford the brand name product.

I wonder if there's a numbing spray. I remember using it in the hospital - I think it was called Hurricane. It really did the job.

It sounds like you're finding ways to make it through the pain. We become creative and have to think outside the box to get relief.

Jim

I use Penetrex at night. I’m waiting for my shipment of Tiger Balm that was mentioned on this site a couple of weeks ago.
