So, I also suggest to taper Nexium off slowly and then you can take pepcid to manage any symptoms you experience in between. Since you've been taking 40 mg, you can also instead take 20 mg pills for a bit, or every other day. If you've been taking Nexium for years, what's a few more weeks... in order to reduce the acid rebound.

I weaned off Nexium for over a year by taking 1 or 2 little tiny balls out of the capsule with about 42 little balls in it. It took me over a year. Now after being off of the last 2 little balls for about 2 months suddenly I'm having hyper acid production. I'm taking 10 mg of Famotidine but I'm afraid I'll get hooked on that. I can't let my esophagus get burned. Help
