In my case, I wouldn't characterize them as flashes (which possibly means it's a different symptom). For me, it's like I catch a fleeting bit of movement in the periphery of my right eye. Always makes me think someone is there when there never is. Just thought I'd mention it here in case someone else has that variation on the theme.

Yes! Not light flashes but detecting movements in peripheral vision that make me quick turn & look. Such a distraction that I drop things, stumble, and lose track of what I’m doing! So glad this isn’t just me.
