What's outside of your picture window today?
As we get ready for the real winter to show up and COVID-19 still playing a major part in our lives I like to spend moments of my day de-stressing about what's going on in the world today. All I have to do is look out the window and observe some of natures beautiful creatures, how they interact and ponder how small it makes my troubles seem. Sometimes I may even get the opportunity to take a photo or two. How about you? Anything going on outside of your window(s) that you want to share?
For those members that have the ability to size your photos before you upload them to the discussion, may I suggest using the following sizes:
– 500 x 335 pixels (landscape)
– 210 x 210 pixels (square)

Oh gorgeous! 😻
Wow, and t his is not work to do during Summer, I think. Is it very warm?
Oooh! And a squirrel, how good does it get? This is wonderful, great view 😻
I used to have a pet squirrel, it was tiny and shared its hay with one of my cats who would drag it out of its cage. The squirrel would be perplexed at this big head in front of him at first, and scared, but at some point just couldn't be bothered anymore.
Our 5:15 am wakeup was two cats outside the bedroom window, "talking" to each other. grrr

@gingerw, and all...
Ginger, are you sure that's all those noisy cats were doing! Personally, I like having cats inside so that doesn't happen...and, with my love of birds, so the birds are safer...
Anyone been watching the Mayo Perrigrin Falcons????? I've been so occupied this spring I've not been like last year. I had them on my computer off and on all day, watching them live and grow. Felt like an Aunt or Grandmother....
They're beautiful and different colors this year. Have more auburn feathers.. last year they were grey. Wonder if Hattie was playing around with a red-headed falcon??? Oh my, what thoughts.
Ck them out. Everyone. They were banded a week or so ago....
Be well, be blessed. Elizabeth
Reply to ess77 (Elizabeth): I take progesterone and estrogen, 2.5 times as much progesterone as estrogen. I have Meniere's, the only trigger being low hormone levels. Without hormones, I have Meniere's crises several times a week, each vomit-fest lasting 12-15 hours; it's no way to live. Both hearing and balance are affected, Until May 24, 2019, it only ruined one ear, but I went bilateral at 6:45 that day, and the world was pretty silent for just short of a year, while I sought a local doc who would prescribe adequate amounts of hormones to someone in her late 70s. Two weeks after starting a new hormone program, hearing in my "sorta good" ear returned to where it had been prior to going bilateral, and crises had ceased.
I live a very active life, much of it outdoors caring for the acreage around our house (and inside, caring for the house itself). I volunteer regularly for four different things: Backpacks for Kids (treasurer and main distance driver), Oregon Coast Learning Institute (curriculum director), ODFW (Fish & Wildlife - data collection), and Central Coast Fly Fishers. Unfortunately, I was stupid enough to get a food handler's license, so I often cook for free breakfasts or dinners. I also still do some graphic design work. I'm my husband's caregiver, somehow having morphed from spouse to caregiver only.
I try to get as much enjoyment as possible from the various animals that share our yard, and from my loving lab-Great Pyrenees and my crazy indoor cat. Still, every day is filled with things I must do that far outnumber things I'd like to do! Along with designing books, I have a super camera and love to photograph natural things, especially birds. This old house offers non-stop problems, but they're often offset by having work interrupted by a cow elk and her calf just outside my big office window, or some of the deer herd that lives here, or the resident heron doing some aerial combat with an egret who'd like to live in our little valley.
Semi-retirement certainly isn't what I thought it would be, as my husband can't hike, float rivers, camp, or travel to much-loved or new rivers, nor can I leave him for more than a few hours to travel with my dog. I'm envious of the couples who walk our road most days...how wonderful to be old, still doing things together!
This is what’s outside my window! We had a tree that started falling apart so we had it taken down before it could fall down (on our house!). Then this summer my husband hired a wood carver who found a fox and a raccoon in the tree! Our yard ends at the tree so all the park visitors think it belongs to the park.
What a talented artist! It’s so much fun see what’s inside those trees. ☺️. Really nice tribute to the old tree.
@ess77 The one big long-haired black one is feral, and lives outside under our project truck. An old Chevy truck that my husband is rebuilding. No clue who the second one was.

@becsbuddy Beatiful! We have a madrone "stump" that is the remains of a lightening strike about 10 years ago. It is about 10" tall. We thought of having a wood carver do something with it. Since we live on a dead end street, no one goes by, so a carving would be "just for us", I am still toying with the idea of building a gnome/fairy village on this stump.

@becsbuddy, loribmt, @gingerw, and all...I adore your carving. What a marvelous way to turn sorrow of losing a tree to joy of releasing what's hiding in the tree. I'm a tree lover...would love to have the pleasure of such a treasure. Thanks for sharing, Becky.
Be blessed, elizabeth
