Good luck
I would love to move to a senior apt but don’t qualify for low income, barely.
Am in a loveless marriage but house is paid for and grandkids like to come over so for now stay out but stairs especially basement are getting hard to do especially carrying laundry up

Here is something to think about - can your kids help you relocate the laundry machines to the main floor? Can you find a place for it in a porch, mud room, bathroom or bedroom? It can make all the difference in your safety and comfort as you stay in the house.

Another possibility is to train your grandkids (as young a 5 years old) to help you when they come. Have your clean laundry folded and organized in very small baskets or piles, then have them bring it up for you when they arrive and place it on your bed (or even help put it away!) My kids and their cousins were taught from a young age to help others, and we raised a very compassionate crew, many of whom are teaching their kids the same. My grandkids, ages 3 & 6, pick up sticks so Grandpa can mow, tote the weed basket to the compost bin, help cook, set & clear the table, take out garbage...so far I haven't needed laundry help, but don't doubt they will do it when the day comes.

Is there a possibility of getting an elevator installed to go to the basement? I have checked you-tube and found some that fit into a small area. Too bad about your marriage. My first one of almost twenty years was terrible. My second one is much better.
