Does anyone find that a type of shoe helps your foot neuropathy?
I am on a constant quest for shoes that don't kill my feet due to the neuropathy. I find that Spencos and Wolky shoes seem the best. Are there any other suggestions? Shoes can be just crippling for me. Horrid.

I went to a podiatrist to inquire about treatment for fungus on my toenails. She only offers laser treatments for an outrageous price( $1300) not covered by any insurance. I declined that, but she noticed that my feet pronate and said I needed custom orthotics. My insurance approved this so I said yes, I’ll try them. She was right ,the orthotics are helping with foot position as well as extra cushion in my athletic shoes. I walk 2 miles every day for exercise. Make sure you get flexible orthotics.
I've been buying these: Muboliy
Women's Original Sandals Casual Summer Water Sandals with Arch Support Yoga Mat Insole Outdoor Hiking Sandals Light-Weight Shoes from Amazon. They are about the only shoes I have been able to wear for awhile. They look like Tevas but only cost $39.99. Right now they are on sale for $29.00. As long as I don't get a piece of kitty litter under my feet, I feel great. Now, if I could just wear them to bed..
The free shoe program at Medicare says you have to have diabetes. I don't. Any advice?
Welcome @dr2n, I wasn't aware Medicare had a free shoe program if you have diabetes. I don't have diabetes either but I do have peripheral neuropathy. Do you have neuropathy also?
I do! Someone mentioned that you could get a pair a year from Medicare. I looked it up and they have to be prescribed by a foot doctor and you have to have diabetes.
Thanks for the reply. I'm searching for the kind of shoe that will be comfortable but it seems to vary. I guess I'll stick with my squishy sandals from Amazon for now.
I’ve had good luck with OrthoFeet shoes. I choose the “Mary Jane” style as I don’t have a lot of feeling in my right foot and I can feel confident that these will stay in place. I can’t wear flip-flops or slip-on shoes because I can’t tell if they start to slide off my heel and then it’s trip and kaboom
Also with the Medicare for shoes you pay 20% of the bill.
Birkenstock sneakers with their wide toe box support my feet and enable me to walk some for exercise. I’m also able to wear their sandals and clogs. There is a soft rubber version that is particularly comfortable for me. I don’t think my foot neuropathy is as bad as what you’re describing, though.
The drawback is the cost.
In the end, once my toes start hurting, I must get my feet up.
I have Medicare and supplemental insurance. I get new shoes and inserts yearly free of charge. They are designed for neuropathy and seem to help somewhat, although I have some occasional balance problems.
I like Taos Sandals and New Balance laced up shoes with th NB inserts.
