SFN and Peripheral Neuropathy

Posted by revfluegel @revfluegel, Jun 2, 2022

I have been diagnosed with Idiopathic Axonal Sensorimotor Pneuropathy. I have recently been diagnosed with Small Fiber Neuropathy. I believe I can have both. I want to understand having both SFN and Large Fiber Neuropathy.

@revfluegel,
I think it's great that you are learning more about your condition and trying to understand it. It helps you become a better advocate for your health and treatments. One of the more easier to understand videos I've seen on the different neuropathies and how they are diagnosed were by Matthew B. Jensen. Assistant Professor of Neurology, University of Wisconsin. Here's a link to his YouTube channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJaXGRxxjnF2mvLiOFmmHLQ

Here is another article that may help with understanding the conditions --- "Small fiber neuropathy is the result of damage to peripheral nerves, including those that are small and myelinated (Aδ), as well as those ..." --- Small Fiber Neuropathy: Disease Classification Beyond Pain and Burning: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5912271/

Another good site for learning more on neuropathy is Neuropathy Commons - https://neuropathycommons.org/neuropathy/neuropathy-overview
