Osteoarthritis - what helps?
I,m looking forward to the webinar tomorrow. I have osteoarthritis in most of the joints in my body, the worst being in my neck and upper back. The only war I can get any relief is via strong pain medications.
This is the first I've heard about the use of stem cells for osteoarthritis.

I use to take 3 ARTROLIVE per day with satisfactory results. Then I've reduced to 2 per day, however the osteoartritis returned in my thumb. I guess I have to return to 3 ARTROLIVE per day, so my doctor seems to think that this mount will not have any effect.
Hi: I was DX with osteoarthritis of the Rt hip in 2011. I had 2 steroid shots the first year and then I asked for PT. Spent a year doing the PT exercises at home and for the past 2 years I have been going to the gym . I do not have pain so do not take pain pills. I am very active ; climbed to the top of red rock canyon in Las Vegas last week. My concern is when do I need to take action about the lack of cartilage? I see my MD about once a year and he looks at the xray and says " that does not look so good". In 2011 I limped, I could not lift my leg to put on pants or get into my SUV. I took the maximum of motrin. What I think has helped me was the regular exercise following the guidelines of my PT instructions. I have been taking Supple drink for 3 years as well. I do not limp, have almost full range of motion in exercises. I do 30 minutes on the treadmill, 15 minutes on the elliptical and 20-30 minutes of weight training ( special attention to strengthening the hip muscles ) I hope that this helps.
@pablo8, I searched the Internet for "Artrolive" and found it as a brand of supplement containing Glucosamine and Chondroitin. Is this the supplement you have been taking? That's fascinating to me, because I used these two supplements for a couple of years after I started having lower back pain; then I quit taking them for several months, and the back pain returned. So I'm back on Glucosamine now and haven't had any serious pain in my back since 2014. I dropped Chondroitin after a nutritionist told me that its molecule is too big to be absorbed from the digestive tract. I don't have scientific proof that Glucosamine is the answer, but it seems to be working and, if you're careful about what product you buy, it's not costly.
@nhaegele, have you used or considered Glucosamine? My lower back, knees, and hips have felt good for 10 years, except for a period of back pain when I stopped taking a Glucosamine tablet for several months. Back on it now and can't complain at all.

Hi Predictable: I take supple which contains Glucosamine and Chondroitin. The drink comes from a MD who had really bad arthritis. It is ordered online and I have been on the automatic shipment for 3 years . I have not tried stopping it . I did try over the counter Glucosamine and Chondroitin before the supple but it did not have the same effect .

What is the name of that supplement you buy online?
Hi, Kelsey Mohring.

Thank you for contacting me. Yes, I have osteoarthritis in my right hand thumb. Some years ago my Doctor prescribed to take 3xday Artrolive to treat several fingers of my left hand with osteoarthritis, which were completely cured. Thereof he reduced Artrolive to 2xday with no problems until recently, when I had this osteoarthritis on my right thumb. My intention was to come back to 3xday, however my Doctor said this is of no use and I should apply instead to an massagem of tho thumb with Cataflam Emulgel, I will start with it now and see what happens. Has anybody used this topic with massage of the affected finger?
