Has anyone had the PSMA-PET scan? Was cancer found?

Hi Colleen,
Yes, my urologist scheduled the PET scan because after 4 years of PSA readings of 0.00, it has risen to 0.2. I had the scan yesterday, and hope it picked up where the cancer cells are located.

New question: Do you have data as to what percentage of patients who have their prostate removed, and have radiation treatment, later experience a recurrence of their prostate cancer?

Good question about stats regarding recurrence and treatment modality. I don’t have access to specific clinical data other than what one can google. For example this study
Potters L, Klein E, Kattan M, et al. Monotherapy for stage T1-T2 prostate cancer: radical prostatectomy, external beam radiotherapy, or permanent seed implantation. Radiotherapy and Oncology. 2004;71:29-33.

Which is outlined in this article: https://news.cancerconnect.com/prostate-cancer/recurrence-rate-similar-between-common-treatments-for-early-prostate-cancer

Naturally, there are individual factors that also need to be considered.

How did the scan go yesterday? When will you discuss the results with your cancer care team?

What were the results of your scan and treatment plan? Thx
