Hello, I am wondering if anyone in this group has heard of or has information or experience with SRS, Slipping Rib Syndrome? I am finding lots of contradicting information.
I have been having pain for 6 months, feels like up under my right side lower rib cage, after a fall where a heavy, pointy object was crammed up under my rib cage in this area. It is a sharp pain, not an ache, and really feels muscular, like I've done too many sit-ups. It presents when I move in certain positions. I have had a MRI which showed my liver, gallbladder, kidneys and pancreas were all good. I saw an orthopedic Dr. who never heard of SRS but had no explantion for the pain. Possibly 'damaged cartilage', that "takes a long time to heal". I also had a scope that found I had gastritis, no H-pylori found in 3 biopsies. My PCP prescriped OMEPRAZOLE, although I have zero symptoms like indigestion, stomach ache, regurgitation etc. I have no problems with my disgestion system, all is working well. I have been taking it for over a month, and no change in the pain. Of course I googled my symptoms and SRS came up. I dug a little deeper and it sounds like what I am experiencing. I am in contact with both Dr. Hansen's office in WV and Dr. Shiroff in Philadelphia. Dr. Hansen is booked up for quite a while just for appointments - surgery is now into 2023. Both are the same distance from where I live. Is there much of a difference in there expertise, success rate, etc.?

Hi. Thank you. I have only had contact with their offices so far by phone. I guess I could call and ask. I am scheduled for an initial exam with Dr. Hansen on September 1, 2022. For Dr. Shiroff, I am getting a CT scan of my chest which I will mail to him. The intensity of the pain and length of time - into my fifth year of pain now - will probably cause me to accept whoever is able to see me first. I am on the waiting list for Dr. Hansen.

Hello John, I am not familiar with Dr. Shiroff. My daughter had a consultation in February with Dr. Hansen and her surgery is scheduled for June 22. He seems to be the most experienced with SRS. This is my daughter’s second surgery. I wish I had gone to him first.
