Because my heart is all messed up from the birth defect, it’s hard for me to remember events that were triggered by it. I believe your external monitor was either the Zio model or one you’re wired to and wear. I convinced my pcp of my need to be seen by an Electrophysiologist but they are highly regarded for their specialty. Mine is the top boss in the whole department of 35 doctors. So my pcp ordered the External Zio recorder and I wore it for two weeks. You really have to be unusual to get my doctor so my presentation was so intriguing he told me he’d see me during his lunch break. Remember, I’ve had this defect for 77 years before we discovered my defect is a 1 in a million occurrence. With the data from the Zio, it showed two sets of poppers (fast beats as I call them). One was clocked at 164 and another at 159, both occurred while I was sleeping but the duration wasn’t long. What really convinced him to take me on as his patient was me experiencing what I call spontaneous blackouts. I had had an episode of it 5 months before my appointment. When I talk about have an event, naturally a medical person think I fainted. Wrong, fainting you get a short warning like dizziness or lightheaded. My blackouts are instantaneous, one second I’m standing, next second I’m on the floor or ground, no warning, no nothing. I’ve experienced those kind of events since I’m a kid, but I never knew why or told anyone. It turns out my defect is part of a problem known as Wolff, Parkinson, White Syndrome and it can trigger my blackouts and heart attacks.
Part of my defect taught me that my electrical pathways between chambers is also messed up. It’s to long to explain but each chamber has two pathways for the pulse to go thru. All three main pathways are dead and my heart’s just working on the backups. If any of those three should block, I’ll hit the floor, dead between the first half of the heartbeat and the second half. So yes, EKG’s & EEG’s pick up the messed up signals . I’ve had a Right Bundle Block for a number of years. Hope I answered you questions.
