Hello everyone,
The first time I felt symptoms were May of 2021. I started feeling extremely lightheaded, restless and breathless for no reason during the day. I figured these episodes were anxiety related. They came and went and I was able to get on with my life.
Up untill november 25th 2021 I was extremely active, biking, surfing everyday, weight training ju jitsu, etc..
This night I felt pretty normal but slightly lightheaded all day. I felt as though i needed to lie flat on the floor in order to relax. Suddenly when trying to go to sleep I had a severe sharp stabbing pain that was deep inside of my brain on the left side. 911 was called paramedics picked me up and said I was throwing PVC's like crazy.
MRI, CT scan checked out ok. Doctors said the pain I had was most likely coming from a pinched occipital nerve. The pain was still severe but eventually went away after a few weeks.
What didn't leave was the Pounding of the heart. The pounding was so severe it would shake my entire chest. Paramedics preforming the EKG could literally see my heart beating through the chest wall!!
In December I noticed I would feel like passing out when going into the sauna or when doing physical activity which I never had before.
By February I had started a new job as an academic tutor while taking classes. Every single day I was pushing through feelings of adrenaline rushes, pounding heart, intense shortness of breath, and chest pressure isolated on the left side right where the heart is pounding. It got unberable when symptoms started lasting all day.
I had to quit my job and leave school. Went to the advent health hospital here in Florida stayed 6 days. Echo was clear. (Had multiple PVC's while the echo was being preformed and saw my heart contract fast then long pause followed by a heavy pound and an electric shock in center of chest)
Doctors said echo was clear. Adrenaline tests where preformed and found that Dopamine, epinephrine and cortisol all were elevated.
When standing my heart rate would fluctuate between 100 and 130 cycling back and forth. Almost like my Parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems were at war with each other.
My blood pressure would also shoot up to 160/ 94 sometimes.
Doctors said I was having autonomic tachycardia. Was put on metoperlol and fleccainide. These medications did not do anything for my pounding heart. They ended up giving me worse center diffuse chest pressure underneath sternum.
Currently I have intense diffuse chest pressure all day under the sternum. I feel like I should go to the E.R every time the episodes get really bad. Doctors have told me in the past say that im too young and healthy to be having a blockage of the coronary artery. Does heart attack pressure stay constant for weeks? Also my pressure doesn't get worse when Im walking. That's my one sign of hope its not heart related.
All my symptoms
-Pounding heart (not fast) shakes entire chest
- Adrenaline rushes associated minor stimuli sometimes just randomly
- PVC's
- Constant diffuse chest pressure under sternum (Worst symptom at the moment)
- High blood pressure? 160/94?
-Variable heart rate when standing
Sounds like me 20 years ago, I’m 78 now. Most of my heart problems have started in the last 4 years or so. But back then I had similar symptoms with pounding palpitations that were very painful. At first, the initial half of the heartbeat felt sort of normal but then came the delayed second half. It was that powerful, I thought someone punched me extremely hard in the chest. They were palpitations alright but so out of whack it felt like I was about to die.
Zip forward after 100mgs of Metoprolol daily. Things are still messed up but with no medical insurance or money, I suffered. Then one night it happened, just like the cardiologist had predicted, my death. I was getting poppers as I call them, very fast heartbeats, about 8 to 20 beats in a row. Now cut to the chase, I wake up from a sound sleep and felt very badly. I checked my pulse and to my shock, there was none. I literally thought I was dead and this is what death feels like. Turns out to be Pulseless Ventricle Tachycardia and my heart is beating 197bpm, to fast to feel a pulse. My bp was over 200/100 and I felt like I was going to blackout.
Since then, they discovered I have Wolff, Parkinson, White Syndrome, a birth defect I never knew I had for 77 years. That’s caused 3 heart attacks plus more complications. My advice is don’t give up, if you have insurance, search for the cause of you pain before it kills you. I was bounced from doctor to doctor, department after department because by now, I’m still poor but I’m on Medicare and Medicaid.
My first heart attack it felt like a five or ten pound bag of sugar was sitting on my chest while I was laying in bed. That got the whole cardiology department in an uproar. My heart is about to quit because I left to many symptoms slip by without saying a word. Now my heart is out of muscle strength to pump correctly and nothing can help except a transplant. Yours sounds the same way and your brain and organs aren’t getting enough oxygenated blood. Don’t stop looking till you get the correct reason for the way you feel. I didn’t
