I had a friend with a bulging stomach. It was drained by a doctor as it contained a lot of liquid. Cancer was also Dx, stage 4 at this time in his colon. Later exploratory surgery indicated cancer in the appendix which is very hard to Dx w/o surgery. I would get a doctor for a 2nd opinion. Hopefully your condition is not this, but cancer sometimes has no direct symptoms. You may want to consider getting one of the cancer tests available for home use. It can be other things besides cancer, of course. I would also check diet/supplements for folic acid (a man made substitute for vitamin B9). You are in my prayers, Sister Marie
Folic Acid? I’ve had a colonoscopy, abdominal ultrasound and breath test ..all negative.
I have a video conference with my GI in a few weeks. I will discuss with him as well or the surgeon that did the colectomy.
Thank you
I have yet to find out why my belly is so bloated. I also had surgery 6 months ago as a result of diverticulosis.
I was tested for SIBO but that’s negative .
Has anyone had any luck reducing their belly size?

Stomach swelling happens for a while after colon surgery. Mine subsided after about 6 months but still inexplicably occurs sometimes. Talk to your doctor about this issue and see if specific foods should be avoided or included, your discomfort level and what activities might help. Walking (a lot), drinking more liquids and avoiding certain foods seemed to help me. Good luck, the new normal seems to be trial and see if it helps.
My stomach and abdomen starts swelling even after just drinking water. My stomach was flat before surgery. I then had a plastic surgeon try to fix it with a full abdominoplasty. It still swells like a big beer belly and presses on my bladder. When I ask my primary doctor, my surgeon why their eyes glaze over. The plastic surgeon after 7 followups offered a liposuction. What they removed ended up T0. I just want to know why it swells and is uneven when it was absolutely flat before a hand assisted scope for the colon cancer.
No. I asked the doctors, surgeon. Primary doctor, cancer doctor. The plastic surgeon that ttied to fix it. There eyes gloss over. It is years after the surgery, and the beer belly presses on the bladder. They do not have an answer.
Exercise makes it swell. Eating a meal makes it swell. Going to the bathroom, I got a bidet. It helps with constipation and cleaning, but still swelling occurs. My surgery was five years ago. I had the flat stomach and I ended up lumpy, beer belly and swelling. My weight is the same. This is not an acute postsurgery problem.
Only a very small amount of colon was removed. Procedure was called hand assisted scope. Others I have met that go in with a flat stomach come out with nothing but a small scar. Perhaps I s the intestines were not handled gently. Perhaps it is the technique of the particular surgeon. Still, the swelling besides being a body image problem, is also uncomfortable pressing on the bladder. I would just like to know why. I do still exercise anyway. I was a weight lifter and a runner and a compulsive exercise person before. Now after exercising, I get swelling.
I also had a foot of my colon removed in January due to having stage 1 cecum cancer. I wonder if some of that is scare tissue? I noticed my right ride is tad bigger than my left side. I was always super thin. But since my surgergy I gained about 10 pounds. My stomach is no longer flat .. I think some of that has to do with my body adjusting to the new and improved plumbing systems. It has been 8 months since my surgery, for four of those months I couldn't do a thing. So I gained weight.
Then I started very slowly to exercise again. And I feel a great deal of pulling on my right side. My surgeon says that is scar tissue. Plus I been babying my stomach. Which doesn't help it at all. I noticed I seem to retain extra water too. Exercising seems to help. I started swimming and doing exercises in a pool. That seems to help a great deal. Not sure if you have access to a pool? But try exercising in a pool. It has helped a lot to getting over babying of that area.

Hi,
Did you ever find a solution or reason for your beer belly.
I’m still searching!
