When I cut out too many fiber foods I feel that I am lacking in good nutrition. Plus it adds to the constipation problem.

I agree. That’s why I added fiber back to my diet. I don’t think we with Gastroparesis should cut out fiber — we should cut out fibrous foods. There’s a difference.

@1950 I have a problem with constipation so I take the generic version of Metamucil from a health food store. Started out with 1 teaspoonful in 8oz. glass of water swallowed quickly before it gels, followed by another 8oz glass of water (you could try juice if preferred). Takes a couple of days to to take effect and you cannot miss more than a day. A couple of weeks later I increased it to two teaspoonful, then a tablespoon, and now at the suggestion of my gastroenterologist I take two tablespoonfuls.I prefer the generic psyllium husks because it is cheaper than Metamucil - and it is unflavoured. Don’t have a problem with constipation at all any more.
