Stage 3 colon cancer and living with an ileostomy bag
My son was diagnosed with stage 3 t3 colon cancer. He is wearing an ileostomy bag. He is being treated at AMITA St. Joe's in Chicago. Would a Mayo suggest a second opinion? Thank you.

MY stool was never tarry, but did get very dark, almost black, but then returned to a normal brown color. It's nice to have someone to discuss this shit with, haha I appreciate all the input I can get.
Be happy to answer. Actually, Joyce is the one w/ the ostomy. Both of us read and respond to the queries posted on this site.
Could be what you are eating. Suggest having it checked by an MD just in case.
Thank you so much
I got the results of my biopsy today, and I don't think it is good. I have Adenocarcinoma, moderately differentiated. I'll consult a cancer doctor tomorrow, now that I have the lab results. I hope I will survive more than 5 years, although I am 74 years old. I'm curious about immunotherapy. Oh, another factor is that I currently live in the Philippine Islands. Things are more difficult here, than in America.
How did the consult with the cancer doctor go? What treatments options were suggested?
I don't have money for a consult with an oncologist until May2, payday. In the Philippines it's cash only, for me.
May 2nd isn't but a weekend away. Please let us know what you learn.
Thank You Colleen, we are all concerned about each other on this website. IT'S WONDERFUL TO COMMUNICATE with each other.
I was diagnosed with stage 2 adenocarcinoma moderately differentiated. I also have ulcerative colitis. I went through two rounds of chemo and was unable to complete the remainder but I’m still cancer free at three years. I do live in the US, so have access to continued care but don’t get discouraged
