We just found out my elderly mother that is full of life. Has stomach cancer and feelers are moving up her esophagus. She is married to a wonderful man, my sis and I are doing our best to comprehend it all. Hospice has come and what a wonderful thing. My whole body and mind is filled with fear. And my momma is very scared , like she says sadly " who wouldn't be scared" I hope that I am on the right comment section. Ty
Hello Ty,
I can suggest try to always get second opinions and get permission for your sister or you to go with her to her appointments- it’s weird but it helps the Drs see family around supporting. Keep the home health care coming as long as you can. Remember that you and your sister being there is the best medicine and helping her to not get overwhelmed.
@ilovema1234, I'd like to add my welcome along with @mindyt. I'm so glad that you and your family have hospice involved. They will take care of the medical caregiving so that you and your sister can be daughters and spend loving time with your mom.
Does your mom have pain? Are any treatments being offered to help make her confortable? Do you live close to your mom?
Yes we live close by, thank God. Everthing makes me cry, and people say we'll she is 85 y old. Momma is momma young or old. She's getting sever acid reflux. Things are moving to quickly. Hospice is ready. Ty and hugs for responding
A momma is always a momma, and you'll always be the daughter. I hope you can hold her close and be kind to yourself.
Thank you kind lady.
How are you doing now? I noticed that your comment was dated in 2021.
My husband was diagnosed in September 2021. We felt very confident with our medical team and they didn’t waste any time getting him into chemo and radiation. He had the complete esophagus removed March 8 and we’re dealing with some issues.
I would love to know how you were doing now after the surgery. My husband had his entire esophagus removed March 8 and unfortunately he has had many complications particularly a stricture in his throat that food and medication have lodged in and eroded. He is back to all liquids for a couple of weeks and we hope this takes care of it.
I have barretts esophagus. My nose is so DRY!!!!!Is it okay to use Saline Solution in the nose. I have very dry nose, eyes , and mouth
@rexsan20, that sounds like a question best asked of your doctor. Might your dry nose, eyes and mouth be caused from another underlying issue like Sjogren's that requires investigating?
