My ENT suspected an acoustic neuroma because of much decreased in hearing within one year. It was a neuroma on my trigeminal nerve. I already had TN for about 20 years. I had the MVD surgery about 17 years ago. I am planning the removal and the doctor will also look to see if there are offending blood vessels. After the MVD, I didn’t get complete relief but was happy with some relief. It has been up and down but I think the surgery is the right way to go. I have had three MRIs. The initial MRI, then the second showed about double the growth, then the last one was stable. My pain was increasing for about a year and a half before it was found. This has been about a three year progression of pain. I see the neurosurgeon in two weeks. He suggested surgery about eight months ago. He is the same surgeon I used for the MVD. I hope by now you have made the right decision for you.
