GoodRX is an alternative to Medicare and can not be used in conjunction with any federal or state-funded programs. GoodRX is an out of pocket, discounted coupon rate. I have the GoodRX app on my phone which allows me to shop medication, strength, and quantity to determine which pharmacy offers it at the lowest price. You put in your zip code and it finds locations nearby. I have Medicare but choose not to use my Medicare prescription plan for one of my scripts because it is cheaper to pay out of pocket using a GoodRX coupon.
To my knowledge pharmacies can not deny you using a GoodRX coupon and paying out of pocket, but I do not believe they will or can offer or suggest it to you. The consumer has to be aware and present the discount coupon code. GoodRX may not always be the best option but just like a car, it may pay to shop.
