knee replacements 2 months apart that were done 3 years ago

Both knees we replaced 3 years and and within a year I was having problems. Kept fall from my knees callapsing. The doctor me it was from my back. It has gotten than it was before the surgery. I have no strength in either leg. I need help standing up. Now the doctor is retired. I'm using an associate of his and theyre going to try to figure out what it is. Has anyone else had this after knee surgery?

My brother had a problem he was collapsing he never had knee replacement but had bad knees ….. they found some blockages that were causing his legs to give out…..

Hi @bikerchick and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Sorry you are going through this. That sounds miserable. You might want to read this article that one of our mentors found in relation to what you are experiencing. "Although a TKR will not return your legs to a pre-arthritic state—they will never have the same strength and most likely will not regain the same flexibility as a healthy natural knee—it will likely allow you to engage in many activities that were not possible before the surgery. Those who have received a new knee say that the physical benefits ripple into their mental state as well. They’re generally happier and more satisfied with life. "

How bad was your condition prior to having the surgery?

I had TKA two years ago and knee never regained complete functional. I have coexisting degenerative disk disease and best doctors can tell me is the back is the problem. I did have a revision to upsize the spacer as knee hyperextended. Not much improvement was achieved with that. Sorry for your grief with all of this and hope new doc and team are able to help you.
