It works on histamine receptors, which has a sedating affect, especially at low doses. It also affects different serotonin receptors than most ssri’s. That’s why it’s called an atypical antidepressant . I take it 2 hours before bed and it helps tremendously with sleep. Sleep is important with whatever condition you have. I can’t say it does much else.

My main concern about remeron is that it’s a histamine 1 antagonist?
So is Benadryl….I tried Benadryl for sleep a few years ago and it made me hyper….would remeron do the same thing? The opposite of what it’s supposed to do?
