Hi Koala78, my hip was removed in 2015. I also have a raised shoe and I also put in a shoe heel lift to help. Since we don’t have hips they can’t get a shoe lift just right since we don’t have any support on that side. I walk mostly with a rollator walker and I can walk short distances into like a resturant or doctors office with a cane. I use the cane with the quad cane tip that can stand alone. It gives me more support. I will walk around the house without anything but doing it too much will cause the other leg to ache because of the extra wear and the back will start hurting. I love my rollator walker because I can shoot around, do my grocery shopping or just get out and about. The regular walkers don’t allow me that freedom. You can get a rollator walker that isn’t too heavy so it isn’t so hard to put in and take out of the car. I know you are going through a lot of adjustments but you will find your way and learn to deal with it. I was a shoe nut…I loved shoes….now all I buy are New Balance running and walking shoes because I find I can balance myself with them and they last…..doing build up for the shoes can get expensive…..but I do have have neat athletic shoes now. Let me know if you have any questions.
