Liver cancer: Questions about clinical trials and more

Posted by alfonso22 @alfonso22, Jan 17, 2022

Hello I have 2 questions 1st is the trial treatment is just for people who tried other treatment first or it could be for any who wants to try. 2nd my doctor never told me there was another tumor even tho is not cancer and small on size I just found on my Y90 evaluation technician show my MRI scan and explain both tumor and locations not sure why doctor never said anything even tho I ask if the left side was a tumor as my primary doctor told new cancer doctor said no was on the right side I do not like when she try to hide facts any ideas why I was told so thank you

today I got my MRI after 6 weeks of the Y90 treatment i just got my result on line but have not talk to the doctor yet I notice my tumor was only down from 3.5 to 3.4 so not sure if that is a fail or what but was wondering could I have a 2nd Y90 treatment in the same place or just give up and let it take its curse. I stll feeling good working all that but sometimes just wonder . thank you for all your support and listen 🙁

Alfonso, I know you were hoping for a bigger decrease, but the numbers are moving in the right direction. Obviously, you’ll wait to talk to your doctor before making a decision about getting a second Y90 treatment or what other option might be best for you, including no treatment or a treatment pause.

I look forward to hearing what you learn after consulting with your cancer team. How are you feeling today?

@topsz, radioembolization is a type of transarterial therapy that strategically attacks liver tumors with localized, high doses of radiation. The treatment often is called Y-90. It can sometimes be used for metastatic colon cancer that has spread to the liver.

You should ask your cancer team if it is a possible treatment in your situation.
