Iron Depletion in Blood related to COVID?

This is very interesting as I am also dealing with iron-deficiency anemia after my Moderna vaccines. In March 2021, I received my second Moderna vaccine. (In August '20, my CBC was normal for all parameters). Few months after my second vaccine I began feeling winded on minor exertion. Blood test indicated low HGB and iron (and very low ferritin). All other lab tests were normal. Upper and lower endoscopy showed no problems. Now seeing hematologist and receiving iron infusions. Waiting to see if iron levels will remain steady or drop back to low levels.

I’m glad to hear that the endoscopies were good, hoping for the same. Did they try supplements for you first or go straight to the infusions?

I posted previously. Same circumstances only Pfizer vaccine. Be sure to post on VAERS site. So far,no one seems to take this seriously. I'm awaiting gi testing. Taking 65mg ferrous sulfate 3x day. HGB NOW BACK TO 12 always ran 13.5 before. Never had anemia before.

I thought I would give a little more information about my situation. Prior to my COVID vaccine, I enjoyed excellent health and had never suffered from anemia. After the vaccine, my stamina decreased significantly and my heart labored during light exercise. My cardiologist detected the anemia. Before iron tablets and now iron infusions, my iron level was 27 (normal 49-181 ug/ml) and my ferritin was 5.03 (normal 17.9-464 ng/ml). My HCT, MCV, and MCH levels were all low, as expected. After tablets (for three weeks) low blood levels increased some but most were still below normal. Doctor put me on Venofer infusions (5 infusions). Arkansas Blue Cross would not pay for Injectafer (which is 2 infusions). Again just waiting to see if levels will stay normal after completion of the treatments.
