Don, do you cough when you do nebulize? I do cough a lot and I feel like the saline is so strong. I used 7 percent and do 2x a day. Thanks for listening. Cila

Not Don, but he must be hiding somewhere around here.
I'll try to answer - 7% saline is meant to cause you to cough, to bring up the mucus that provides a breeding ground for bacteria in our lungs. As I write this, I am intermittently nebbing and stopping to cough. My "goal" is 10 puffs before I stop to cough. When the saline is gone, I will intentionally "huff cough" for at least a couple minutes more. I find standing up and bending from the waist as I do this gets the most crud out the fastest. After I finish, I will drink a big glass of water and sip some throat-soothing tea.
Afterward, I will cough off and on during the day. If it gets annoying, I will do another round of "huff coughing" to see if I can get rid of more crud. After 4 years my body kind of tells me what I need to do from day to day.
How long have you been using the saline? What do you do afterwards to get the mucus out?

Cila. Yes, I do cough when I neb 7% saline. And you’re right 7%. Despite relatively long term use, it still irritates ( “catches” ) in my throat in an irritating way. as if to convey a message advising me that it wasn’t designed for this use. I persist with 7% though; its effectiveness in controlling flare ups of “febrile” bronchitis made a believer of me. Don
