Have you tried the new Protocol 525 product for neuropathy relief?

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Apr 21, 2020

I have used the original version of the Protocol 525 product (https://theprotocolworks.com/) since 2016. I have idiopathic small fiber peripheral neuropathy with the only symptom being numbness in both legs. When I started taking the protocol, the numbness was just below my knees. After 2 months, the numbness seems to be just above the ankles which is subjective on my part with no additional testing. I do feel it is a win-win for me as my neuropathy has not progressed like I was told it would by the neurologist. I have continued taking the protocol in hopes that it may continue to roll back the numbness symptoms. I have noticed some new feeling in my feet in the last 2 months. Some feeling has returned to me feet and they seem to feel better lately although I still have the numbness – hard to describe the difference.

The Protocol 525 is not a cure for neuropathy. It treats the pain and discomfort symptoms of neuropathy without the drugs which have their own side effects. Have you tried the Protocol 525 or the original protocol? Did it help? If yes, how? If no, please share.

Note: I have no commercial investment in the protocol and I am sharing this information as someone who has found some degree of relief using this combination of supplements. I also discussed these supplements with my Mayo primary care team before I started taking them. The care team sent them to the pharmacist for review who did not have any major concerns for me taking them.

Just an FYI since I started this discussion it never occurred to me to say this but I have no commercial investment or financial interest in the protocol and I am sharing this information as someone who has found some degree of relief using this combination of supplements. I also discussed these supplements with my Mayo primary care team before I started taking them. The care team sent them to the pharmacist for review who did not have any major concerns for me taking them.

Where do you get this product I am suffering terribly with the burning tingling and stabbing sensation from head to toe at night All escalated after covid booster and gabedentin seems to intensify it and I can’t sleep so refuse to take. No answers from neurologist.

Hi John

The drug screening is done by a third party. Other than the sensitivity, they could provide no info.

I looked at the Facebook page but did not see a place to post a question or search past questions. Can you point me to it?

Who would you recommend to ask about the fax seed oil vs hemp seed oil?

Thanks!
Doug

Hi Doug, I did a search of the Facebook group but couldn't find any reference to the amount of THC in the hempseed oil causing any problems for drug testing. As far as flax seed oil vs hemp seed oil I think they are comparable but the HSO is better. Here's one view on the topic - Good Hemp Oil vs Flaxseed Oil: https://www.goodhemp.com/hemp-hub/why-hemp-oil-is-better-than-flax-oil/

I think the problem with searching is if you are using a mobile device. Facebook leaves a lot to be desired. Here's the magnifying glass to search the group on Facebook used on a computer. On a phone it's hard to see the magnifying glass but it's at the top right next to the three dots menu.

@ohiodoug - I did a little more searching and found some information that hopefully answers your concern about hemp seed oil and the small amount of THC affecting the drug compliance testing. Like you mentioned the Manitoba Harvest Hemp Oil contains less than .001 % of THC. The test doesn't allow more than .3%.

It is so expensive does it really help with the burning and electricity feeling.

It's about $6 a day but if it works for the pain it's worth it. I only have numbness and it has helped me although my numbness has not completely gone away. Here's a post in another discussion by @evansjohn007 sharing his story about the protocol and how it has provided relief from his neuropathy pain - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/611196/

There's a link to the Facebook group where the Protocol 525 originated on their website where you can read many success stories of how it has helped others -- https://theprotocol525.com/testimonials/

I am retired military and a federal employee and concerned about the CBD/hemp products in the Protocol. Thoughts?

Hello @aemedic, Welcome to Connect. I've been taking the Manitoba Harvest Hemp Oil with the protocol since 2016. There's no significant amount of THC in the cold pressed hemp seed oil. From the FAQs on the website -- https://theprotocol525.com/faq/ -----" Hemp Seed Oil will not get you high. Hemp and marijuana are much like a sweet pepper and a hot pepper, or a Chihuahua and a Great Dane. Hemp and marijuana are both part of the cannabis plant family but are VERY different. Hemp foods, including our Hemp Seed Oil, contain less than 0.001% Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and will NOT cause a psychoactive effect.".

I don't have the pain with my neuropathy but do have some numbness and a little tingling in my feet. I posted my story in another discussion on Connect here - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/310341/

I see from your first post that you suspect back and neck injuries may be playing a part in your symptoms and you requested a neurology consult. I think that's a good idea as nerve compression in the neck and spine can certainly cause similar symptoms. There are a couple of sites I really like for learning more about neuropathy that you might want to use for researching.
-- Neuropathy Commons: https://neuropathycommons.org/neuropathy/neuropathy-overview
-- Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy: https://www.foundationforpn.org/

There's also another discussion that may be relevant for treatments -- Myofascial Release Therapy (MFR) for treating compression and pain: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/myofascial-release-therapy-mfr-for-treating-compression-and-pain/

Can you let us know what you find out at your neurology consult?

Thank you for the welcome! I am just not willing to risk my career for hemp products. Everything I read says that the DoD doesn't have any allowance without specifically prescribed products. I have ordered everything but the hemp seed oil, I hope it works without it!
