Hi ZeeGee @fourof5zs, I've had similar pain when I've slept on my wrist in a funny way that tweaks a nerve but haven't experienced the bruising below the wrist. I do have carpal tunnel but haven't had any surgeries on my hands. I know there are a lot of things that can cause hand pains so I think it's a good thing to check it out with a hand doctor. John, when I called this morning for an appointment the lady said it would be weeks before the hand doctor could see me. … unless an emergency. I told her that I was mostly interested in seeing someone for an evaluation. They had an opening with a PA-C at 10:30.
I went … had 3 x-rays to make sure the bones were fine. Then he accessed my wrist and listened to me. He said he was not sure what was going on with the tendons and not sure which one because the pain was across the whole wrist and often the tendon involved is not right under the bruise.. which he said bruising just sometimes happens. He said it is a sprain which can be either a strain or torn tendon.
Since the pain is now mild and no new numbness. .. I am to wear a brace to prevent damage and to aid in healing The swelling responded to moist heat so continue it.
Oh .. I had to get another brace to add to my collection. The one I picked was not long enough and he did not like the bend of it. They ran it through my insurance first and insurance is paying for it.
He wants to see me back in two weeks.
