What does hypermetabolic activity on left hilum mean?

@van333

Thank you for responding. I have been diagnosed with adencarcinoma stage 1 in the right upper lobe. My surgeon is planning to do a wedge resection. Have not heard back from his office regarding a date. He had not called me to discuss the PET results. I am very nervous. This is not my first time. I had a LLL IN 2009. At that time 11 lymph nodes were biopsies and all were negative. I called my pulmonologist today and he is referring me to a lung oncologist. My anxiety is high at this time. With only one lobe left on that side. The test results have me very worried. Thanks again.

@van333- I can understand your anxiety and this happens all too often when test results are available prior to a doctor's explanation, as Colleen has pointed out. I have had two lobectomies and although my activity levels aren't what I would wish I live a full and active life.

I have always called a doctor's office if I don't hear back about test results after a week has passed. YOu are entitled to those results and an explanation that you can understand. I am very glad that you are taking action on your own and going forward with another doctor. Make sure that all of your scans and other history are sent to him, and that you have at least a copy of it all.

It is excellent that you have very early and small lung cancer with an excellent chance of a long time survival.

Do you know when this new appointment will be?
