Yes, I did loose 12 lbs when I got my diagnosis of Mac. 8 months later, it was time for annual thyroid levels and they were too high. Synthroid dose adjustments helped. And I am starting to put back on lbs. I needed. Also my go to snack of choice was icecream and I couldn’t tolerate it anymore cause it really did cause me to have excess mucus. I miss it, so have substituted muffins and protein bars, and smoothies for in between snacking.
thanks for those lectures from NJH. Very informative. It is difficult to maintain weight. I keep trying to gain weight but keep falling slightly under what I want to weigh. So my diet is often Oatmeal for breakfast with lots of nuts and raisins.
And a fruit bowl of bananas blueberries, papayas. Eggs. Lunch and dinners often a vegetable protein like tofu, seitan or tempeh, natto, kim chi and sometime fish with pasta or brown rice and a green salad and a steamed vegetables or stir fried. I come from a vegetarian diet but have to add fish or eggs. Most of my food is organic.
Im trying to get more muscle mass through protein and exercise. Our whole digestive system seems to be affected by MAC. Wish all of you the best.Thank you.
My mother lost 35 lbs the first year she was on the big 3 due to her loss of appetite and abdominal upset. She started drinking one premier protein drink a day, chocolate is the best, from Costco. She uses unsalted butter, eats peanut butter and jam toast most mornings. She buys whole yogurt and cottage cheese. She snacks daily on nuts. She added an afternoon homemade oatmeal cookie snack. Also super premium ice cream with desserts. Her weight has stabilized. She got MAC from gardening. So sad. She always has eaten organically grown vegetables and still does but what an awful disease to get from doing such a healthy good thing. Good luck, I hope some of these suggestions help.
