What's outside of your picture window today?

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Nov 25, 2020

As we get ready for the real winter to show up and COVID-19 still playing a major part in our lives I like to spend moments of my day de-stressing about what's going on in the world today. All I have to do is look out the window and observe some of natures beautiful creatures, how they interact and ponder how small it makes my troubles seem. Sometimes I may even get the opportunity to take a photo or two. How about you? Anything going on outside of your window(s) that you want to share?

For those members that have the ability to size your photos before you upload them to the discussion, may I suggest using the following sizes:
– 500 x 335 pixels (landscape)
– 210 x 210 pixels (square)

Oh nice, Lori. Rub it in…some of us are still freezing 🥶 our “nubbins” off! Although, it’s amazing how warm 30 feels after being in single digits or below for more than a month!

Yes, I do believe that stem cells hold a lot of hope for the future healing of many diseases.

If it makes you feel any better at all, it’s not super warm down here either. 😅 We’re in the Panhandle of FL and in February the nighttime temps are usually in the upper 30s. Iguana falling alerts on the evening news. 🦎

"Frost on the overpasses" is the alert here (our iguanas are tiny - wouldn't bother you if they fell on you)

@sueinmn, @loribmt, and all...Lori, I had frost on the roof of my laundry room yesterday morning. All the roofs, I suppose. Nothing on the street or overpasses, although we have had total shut-downs of all traffic, schools, businesses, gov't naturally, in past years, with ice and snow. For one or two days a year, 30 years ago for a week. Not this year! It's been an unusually warm winter so far. Still time for a cold spell, but probably not. We need some cold to kill the flea infestation and other insects we don't want. May have a rough summer with suffering dogs.

I'm so glad you're in Florida. Love your area. It is running over with iguanas, right? Truly, my son's tiny 7-pound little puppy was playing with a 4-foot black racer on Rob's patio, yesterday. All the snake wanted to do was sun and enjoy the warmth. Buddy wanted to play. I wanted to scream. Rob thought it was adorable. Now I think about it, the snake could probably eat the dog!!!!!

The snake is a permanent resident of Rob's, has even found a way inside to the den/office one rainy day! That made my day! You see, Rob has never seen a rat or mouse or any rodent, ever. Thank you, Mr. Black Snake. I used to have them, and moccasins and others, until the wise condo board had a pest service put anti-snake something around the building. Doggone it! Since then, I've had rats and squirrels are multiplying by the 100's.

Lori, to be fair, you haven't taken out your MN heavy coat since in Fl? There you go...

Blessings all. elizabeth

What???? Ok, cute puppy, but too close to the black snake??!!! Oh, now I see it’s a black racer, I think you called it? I’m not familiar with too many snakes. Though I know they’re great for pest control on several levels. Well, I guess if the dog and snake are used to each other. But golly, as much as I value snakes, I’m not sure I’d welcome one that size in my house! 😂. Thank you for sharing this, Elizabeth!

You asked in the other comment if I’ve had to bring out my warm puffy jacket. Ha, i have it here because during the ride from Wisconsin to Fl we experienced a lot of different weather. But it’s all rolled up in a bag in the car. A fleece jacket is the most I’ve had to wear out walking. We have to laugh a little. For us a 50 degree day feels like summer after all the sub zero temps we had before we left home. 🥶🏝😎

Well, we’re hitting the 40s today, but back to 20s tomorrow and single digits into Monday. I have a good friend in Gainesville. He’s been complaining about the unusual cold in Florida. Like many things it’s all relative!

Stay warm! 🤗

@athenalee Hi Athena. I have American relatives in Bellingham, who often come up to Canada to visit me. Not during the Pandemic, of course, but hopefully soon once more.

Bellingham was just the best place to live! Such a beautiful area. I’m looking forward to visiting Montreal again one of these days. And, I want to visit Ottawa…I’ve not been there. It’s just about a six hour drive for me.
