Good evening @leah09. I may be able to help you with OCD-related conditions. My granddaughter developed severe OCD when she was she was 13. After 6 months as an inpatient at Rogers Behavioral Hospital, she came home. She finished HS in a special academic environment. And although she tried to continue in college, it was just too much to handle. She is now 23 years old and
has just accepted a part-time job with a local theater. It looks like she has a good chance of finding success by being able to control intrusive thoughts.

Volunteering has always been one of her interests. She helps train dogs for Positive Teams, an organization that prepares dogs to help with emotional and mental patient situations. I think she has tried every possible supportive medication and has had a therapy relationship for the entire time.

I am happy to call upon her as a resource to help others. Last fall she was asked to speak to the school district's entire student services team about OCD. Perhaps together we can help you. What would you like to discuss?

May you be free of suffering and the causes of suffering.
Chris

Reply to Chris~Thank You for caring. I am a 62 year old female and have suffered with OCD since I was around age 20. That is when it began to hound me and as I grew older I was put on various medications and seemed to get worse with OCD. The Intrusive/Obsessive thoughts I suffer with most are the contamination ones with disturbing images, and thoughts that almost sound like "voices" in my head. I suffer bad anxiety and have been on Clonazepam medication for up to six years now. I have had no luck from therapies. OCD is a chronic life-long condition. To be honest, I have actually accepted this as being a "generational curse" because my own Mother had it and my older sister has it. I seem to be the one who has the worse case. I just live with it. leah09
