Cervical spondylosis w/o myelopathy

Does anyone know if the neurosurgeons use an ultrasonic scalpel for cervical stenosis? I've read that sometimes surgery can be done to preemept future disk replacement and fusion.

This discussion talks about a device used to keep a space between the vertebrae as an add on to the outside of the spine. That may not be for cervical issues. https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/veriflex-superion-implant/

I do know that sometimes surgeons will remove a bit of extruded disc without removing the disc itself. Discs can degenerate and it depends on how far that goes. I had a ruptured disc that had collapsed about 50% of its height. At that point, it was not salvageable, and I had the disc removed and a fusion.

What condition do you have as a concern about your spine? Have you had a consult with a neurosurgeon?

Can get cervical vertigo from spondylosis and light headedness from it.

Hello @shellbinkert and welcome to Connect. Are you experiencing vertigo? That is very strange. I went through some of that before I had my cervical spine surgery when my C1 & C2 were getting twisted by muscle spasms. Are you seeing a spine specialist and do you have a condition that could be addressed with spine surgery?
