Has anyone been diagnosed with Abdominal Wall Pain

Posted by rufus444 @smiles444, Dec 15, 2017

Starting on May 1, 2017, I began having abdominal pain that wraps around to my left back. The first time it happened, I went to the emergency room because I thought I might have an apendicitis. The hospital did a CT scan of my abdomen, everything looked okay. I went to the emergency room several times over the summer with excruciating abdominal and back pain. I had a hida scan done, a colonoscopy and an endoscopy and CT and ultrasound scans of my abdomen. Everything looked normal. In September of this year, a doctor at Mayo felt the area on my abdomen and did a Carnett's test. He suggested it could be abdominal wall pain. I have had two steroid injections and I am still having pain in the same area. Has anyone out there had this type of diagnosis and still having pain?

I suffered terribly with ACNES for about a year. After getting diagnosed via the Carnett test and getting 4 trigger point injections I fortunately found Dr Gillespie at St Joe’s in Phoenix. He performed robotic laparoscopic surgery on T8,9 and 10. Totally cured 😀

Hi there! Can you please specify what ACNES syptoms did you have? My wife seems to have ACNES and we're trying to diagnose it and compare with other people symptoms that already had ACNES. My wife has constant pain in a lower belly for more than 5 month - this pain is not responding to painkillers and does not depend on physical activity or stool. It's just always there, especially severe in the morning hours. Will really appreciate your reply.

Hi Erion, It sure sounds like ACNES. Google the Carnett test - that is the first verification. Next you need to find a Pain Management center that has some familiarity with ACNES. They should give Trigger Point shots to the effected area. You should see moderate to total relief but it is only going to last a short time but it is a verification that it is ACNES. This test is needed for the surgeon before he will consult with you. My surgeon was Dr Thomas Gillespie at St Joseph's Medical Center in Phoenix. He does see new patient and they can be from out of state. He performed Robotic Laparoscopic surgery on my abdomen severing nerves T8, T9 and T10. BTW, he may be the only surgeon in the country - maybe the world that performs this type procedure which is the safest way. Except for soreness from the cutting I left the hospital same day CURED. ACNES is a horrible and very debilitating syndrome - I went through it. I'd be happy to talk on the phone with you. You can probable find me on google - they don't allow phone number given out.

Thank you so much for the detailed reply! We are from Ukraine, no one hear actually knows about ACNES. But we have found a doctor that will make injection into trigger point. Let's see how it goes.

Thanks again

Omg!! This is happening to me right now!!! It started July 1st 2021.. I have been through HELL ever since.. I’ve had so many scans and tests and blood work.. Colonoscopy. Nerve test done on my leg.. X-rays.. My left hand side abdomen non stop pain.. Goes over to my back. Making my leg numb and tingly all the way down to two toes. NOBODY HERE LOCALLY seems to know what is wrong with me.. This is preventing me from doing just about everything.. I’m going to a pain management specialist next week. I’m going to tell him all about this.. But I want it fixed not managed!!!!!

Hi Sherry, It sounds like it may be Abdominal Cutaneous Nerve Entrapment ACNES. It does not show up on any tests and almost all doctors are not familiar with it. Step one: Take the Carnett Test (watch youtube) and next get trigger point shots into the area. You need to find a Pain Management Center that has heard of ACNES. If confirmed ACNES there is a surgeon at St Josephs Medical Center in Phoenix, Dr Thomas Gillespie, that does Robotic Laparoscopic Surgery to cure the pain. He cut my T8, T9 and T10 nerves and left the hospital same day cured. If you would like to reach me my name is Jeffrey Groudan, Gilbert, AZ.

Thank you so much!! I’m going to a pain management specialist Wednesday.. This is the first thing I’m bringing up.!!! I’m so tired of feeling like this.. I can’t do anything the pain and numbness gets unbearable.. The pain is always there never goes away.. Toward the evening it gets worse. I’ve had this for so long I’m learning to just deal with it..

There is a hospital in Wimbledon, England that does surgery on ACNES. You should be able to google them. I considered going there but could not because of covid. Fortunately I found a local surgeon. Good luck.
