Since my back surgery in 2010 I have had chronic back pain. When my groin and inner thigh began to have pain I thought it was related to back issues and a local doc was ready to do another back surgery. I sought second opinion from Mayo and the problem was correctly diagnosed. I had THR surgery in Nov. 2021, am walking upright with no pain and no cane. This surgery even lessened my chronic back pain. I am grateful I did not go ahead with another back surgery.
I had horrible groin pain before hip replacement, went on for several years because nobody looked at my hips, I was petite, and only in my 50's. Couldn't even walk up the stairs properly - finally, the pain doc said it's not your back, let's get some images. And he sent to an ortho that said I had the hips of an 85 year old.
Haven't had groin pain since the surgeries almost 20 years ago. It also resolved knee pain and back pain from bad gait and limping. But my SI joint can get pretty sore if I'm not careful to keep it stretched and to sit properly.
Are you contemplating hip replacement? I have never regretted getting rid of the pain.
