What's outside of your picture window today?
As we get ready for the real winter to show up and COVID-19 still playing a major part in our lives I like to spend moments of my day de-stressing about what's going on in the world today. All I have to do is look out the window and observe some of natures beautiful creatures, how they interact and ponder how small it makes my troubles seem. Sometimes I may even get the opportunity to take a photo or two. How about you? Anything going on outside of your window(s) that you want to share?
For those members that have the ability to size your photos before you upload them to the discussion, may I suggest using the following sizes:
– 500 x 335 pixels (landscape)
– 210 x 210 pixels (square)

@kilh, I just came inside from clearing our drive from the 3 to 4 inches of that white stuff that came down all day yesterday into the night. Even the kitty wants to stay close to his heated seat. 🙃
Thank you for sharing your ”old dog” what a sweet face! She is lucky to have you, and might I say, so are we all. You bring smiles everywhere I see you, here on connect.
I can get on with my day now that I have had a puppy fix.
@johnbishop Good morning, what is outside your window today. We got a little snow all day yesterday and this afternoon the sun is to shine. What kind of heated seat do you have for the kitty? I am sure my barn cats would love something with heat. Felt sorry for them yesterday, the silly cats stayed at the house on cold cement when they could have been up in the barn all nice and warm.
Looking out to the north there is a large flock of crows, big ones maybe 20 on the neighbor's lawn. We have lots of little birds flying in and eating the dog and cat food. I am surprised that they can swallow such big chunks. Sometimes I just stand and watch them through the french door window. Hope you have a safe weekend. KLH
KLH, I was trying to add a little humor. The heated seat is my lap the kitty is laying on. I have in the past used a Snuggle Safe Pet Bed that you can warm up in the microwave and it holds the heat for awhile. For some reason my kitties never much liked it so I gave it away - https://www.amazon.com/Snuggle-Safe-Pet-Microwave-Heating/dp/B00008AJH9.
There's not as much wind today and it's partly cloudy but still colder than I like it at 18 degrees. Not sure what the wind chill is but it seems colder and there isn't much activity around the bird feeder.
Thanks for the humor. But my lap is not so warm and there are five of them. They just will not fit, also they will not let me pet them or certainly not hold them. There are two old mother cats. One has an almost two-year-old son and the other has a three-year-old son and a two-year-old daughter. After nine years that is what is left. When we first moved to this farm that had been vacant only the pasture was rented. There were almost forty barn cats and I could not keep track of all the litter born but over the last ten years, I only have five. A better number and a lot less to feed. Once in a while, I can hold a baby kitten if I can find them. Lost our indoor cat a few years ago but never replaced her. I do miss having one or two cats in the house. Thanks for the reply and I hope your weather warms up for you. Do you live up north? KLH
We live in Southern Minnesota near Rochester.
My parents went fishing every summer for 22 years(I went a few times) stayed at a lodge near Ely. Fished the Canadian border lakes. It is so beautiful up there, no telephone, no TV, and no newspaper just peace and quiet. We would fish from 0800 till 1600 and come in for dinner. When I went it was the most wonderful time with my parents and enjoying nature and the company. My parents both worked all their life in Chicago and lived outside. I never saw much of them growing up, but going fishing with them for ten days(then I was 35) were precious days and great memories. You live in a beautiful area. I miss the lakes and those times. We drove 14 hours to get there. But well worth it. Thanks for bringing back memories of long ago. KLH
@kilh That's probably the same snow that's headed here in New England. It's supposed to start snowing at around 1:00 AM and go through until 1:00 PM. The power company has already alerted its customers that there is a high likelihood of power outages. Arrggghhh. A power outage here means no heat, no water, nothing.
Speaking of dogs, and rescues, here is my daughter's sweet dog. The first picture of her is when she was rescued, the second is after my daughter had her for a while. She's a great dog.

@contentandwell It has been a while since I had heard from you. I would love to rescue a dog but we have never had a dog in the house since we lost our St. Bernard of 12 years in 1976. We got him as a puppy. He was such a lap dog. Even a cat but the other half says no. I do not think he wants to get emotionally tied to an indoor pet. I do miss them. Just have to settle with the guard dog and the barn cats. Let me know how you are doing with our old friend Tymlos. Hope you are well as the NewYear has started. KLH
@kilh It sounds as if you and I are in the same position with pets. My husband says if I bring one home that the population of our home won't change because he will be out the door.
Things are going fine with Tymlos. From what I have heard the cost of it has gone up this year. I'm due to get a refill within the next week but I'm half afraid to order it - the copay I have heard about is generally about $900 now, vs last year it was $560. Granted, once you hit the donut hole it gets reduced considerably but those first few months will be tough.
I hope you are doing well also.
