I received 2 hip replacements and then developed cobalt & chromium.

I am one of thousands that received 2 hip replacements and then developed cobalt & chromium and had to have them both again replaced-I need a brain MRI. If I have particles of metal in my filter systems-do I need to worry about having a MRI? No one seems to be able to answer this question. You are lucky to have Dr. Mary O'Connor in Jax-Fla- who was smart enough to NOT put in those devices. Wish we had known sooner. Frightening. Thank you, Janne

Some options include:
Get tested to to see if there is chromium or cobalt still in your body.
Get all of your thyroid hormones checked ( heavy metals can affect it.)
Get your heart checked. (I developed a permanent rapid heartbeat and slight arrhythmia from the metals or thyroid.)

My gut issues turned out not to be from the metal, but instead a very sluggish and inflamed gall bladder (for years.) Once removed I feel better than for a long time.

Keep pursuing a solution.
Have you had metals and thyroid checked?

I had cobalt & chromium in my blood…which was the reason for the rev. Had blood tested post rev., levels are coming down, but who knows what damage was done & if it’s temp or permanent?
Is there any way to know for sure?

Not for sure - but within one year after my replacements 90% of the problems were gone. The remaining 10% - poor heat regulation in my body, essential & tendency to high heartbeat - could be due to the metals, the Graves disease that the metals caused (since resolved) or just a hereditary tendency that kicked in from the heavy metal poisoning - no one knows for sure. The permanent numbness in my outer thigh is from the metals that deposited there, but that's better than the nerve pain that used to be. This is year 10 since the replacements, and they are perfect.. This is kind of the same thing as some long Covid - did the virus cause it, or was it a particular body's inflammatory response to the virus?

I am so glad that those chromium/cobalt metal-on-metal hips are off the market!

I have realized that my memory was bad….but it seems to be getting worse. Another thing is, I’ve had healthy teeth & gums until like a month ago, I feel like I may have 2 cavities & im not sure (cuz I’ve never experienced it before). But I think my gums are receding at an alarming pace…🤷‍♀️

I wonder if I’ll EVER find out what metal has done if anything & wil it get better or not. Dr’s. (like you said…a while back). Dr’s don’t really know, & if they do, Mum’s the word!

B4 my rev., I was in a deep dark depression…after rev., I felt better but I noticed the bouts of depression seem to come & go. Well, I started a “bout” almost 2 weeks ago. It IS NOT letting up. I can’t get out of bed, I don’t want to live again. I recognize this, because that’s what I felt for a while. It’s not normal for me. I don’t know what’s going on…I thought this would ease up as metal levels decreased..HELP

The implant really does not matter-I know now everything there is to know about this horrible mistake!

It is the cobalt & chromium that is stored in my body I am worrying about. I know I am a "cancer magnet" from this metal poisoning and I know that it is stored in my body filter systems-all I want to discuss is (Too little information-too late!-it is what it is.)

Question: What if the medical particals-which are stored now forever in my body are they attracted to MRI?
They are magnetic. Appears to be a stupid question-but none of my doctors or technicians can answer it.

I believe Dr. O Connor could.

Thanks,

Janne Gregoire

I too have very high cobalt and chromium from after 18 years of wear. I have some hearing loss and wear hearing aids. I am working to get a hip revision and then will go through a detox. I am seeing an integrative doctor and have high oxidative stress and toxic. I did the Genova Diagnostic testing for metabolism and stool testing. No one ever checked my metals in 18 years and now I know why I had all these other problems. Finally answers! None of my multiple doctors ever checked me. This is one of the reasons I went to an integrative medicine doctor. Look at QuickSilverScientific.com. They have detox systems that are used by integrative health providers. One of them has EDTA. Be positive and go forward. You must get the metals out for them to go down.

I had very high chromium and cobalt levels within 5 years of my implants. My heart, thyroid and nervous systems were all affected. I lost nearly half of my hair, developed severe tremors and had muscle wasting in both thighs. The tissue around the implants was the consistency of "gray oatmeal" (the surgeon's words.)
My metal levels fell to normal within six months of removal of the offending hip implants. My thyroid disease resolved, my heart rate returned to "near normal" and my hair grew back. All I had left was a nasty tremor, but one I had a 70% chance of developing anyway because of family history.
I did TONS of research, and there is no scientific evidence that any form of chelation or detox would speed up or improve the process. Please, reconsider the concept of a detox. Your body will excrete the heavy metals after the source is removed.
