I had a Nissen back in a Central Iowa Hospital /Clinic in March of 2015.. It was a life changing event.. It NEVER WORKED.. I lost 50 pounds and had to go to Mayo MN to find out what happened.. The surgery damaged some of the hairnet like nerves that empty the stomach. So the surgery /surgeon gave me post-operative gastroparesis...Every day still take the meds I was wanting to get off ... I have to eat small meals often.. the best you feel is during the morning when that stomach is not full.. it takes up to 4 hours to empty.. Gravity is the way to empty the stomach now... I have gained back 20-25 pounds.. but every day is a challenge.. Mayo gave me a way to cope... they can not undo the nerve damage... or the Nissen... Good Luck.. Ken

Hi Ken, You may be interested in a facebook page called nissen funduplication take down group. You will find the support that you need and others just like you. I had a NF in 2017 and it was the worst decision that I have ever made. I will be having it taken down in Jan. I'm sorry that you have nerve damage and yes, that can't be repaired but the nissen can be taken down. Most doctors will not or do not want to take them down. I have seen stories like yours on that facebook page. Some of the people on there that have gastroparesis, have there nissen taken down and converted into a gastric bypass, which is an alternative. I really wish you the best. Sandy
