Excellent antibiotic works while on it yet if you look at the studies patient symptoms usually return
Limited times you can take it
Very costly
Not for sure of your ?
Many people complain they feel repeat antibiotic usage causes their IBS symptoms to begin

I had excellent insurance which paid 100% for my xifaxan for 3 years. I take it twice a day. If I don't, it comes back. Now I'm on Medicare. I did get a plan that "covers" it although I have to meet the deductible and catastrophic out of pocket max. The first few months of the year are going to be $$$ but then it goes down to about 100.00/ month which is doable. I really wish we had a cheaper alternative.

What plan covers it if you don't mind sharing. I am on Medicare too.

I am on Medicare and my drug plan is through WellCare. It covers xifaxan if your dr gives them all the info they require for coverage. But unfortunately it is a tier 5 drug. I am in the process of trying to get WellCare to lowers the tier. Have no idea if I'll have any luck.

What state do you live in? What Medicare plan do you have? I live in Northern California. What was your diagnoses before you were prescribed this drug. I have IBS-D.

I live in Oklahoma. I have had intestinal issues my entire life and ended up with an emergency right hemicolectomy 5 1/2 years ago which has resulted in chronic SIBO. I believe the diagnoses has to be IBS-D for xifaxan coverage but I'm not positive about that. Before my bowel obstruction and surgery, I had chronic constipation from the time I was born,

Iam also plagued with chronic bowel problem. I had a left Partial sigmoidectomy due to chronic Diverticulitis 7 years ago. I have had chronic episodes of Diarrhea for the last 50 years. Iam 76. I was diagnosed with IBS-D years ago. Recently had GB removal 4 months ago and have had diarrhea at least 2-3 xs a day every since. They say it will get better with time...I don't know, Iam loosing hope. I looked into Xifafan in the past and the prices are prohibitive. That is unfortunate for alot of people because it really works.
