Severe pain in upper inner thigh

Posted by Stretch @stress, Dec 7, 2021

I’ve had SFN, i.e. PN in my feet for ~2.5 years, taking Oxycodone and Methadone for severe pain. Yesterday, I had an attack of severe pain in upper, inner thigh with pain in the 9-10 range. In reading, I found this symptom reference to DVT, deep vein thrombosis, which can be fatal due to potential pulmonary embolism. I’m thinking it’s further manifestation of neuropathy. If anyone else has experienced this symptom how did you deal with it? Thanks.

I also have this type of Severe deep pain in upper thighs. I say also 10 on pain scale. Have had vascular ultrasound and all was fine.

Could it be a groin injury? I had one once and it was terribly painful.

Yes I have had it and also intensity 9/10. Basically I made sure I hadn’t forgotten a dose of pain meds and rode it out til pain went away. I did not get it checked by a Dr.

I did go to the doctor and got pain meds. I was shocked when I found out what it was because I thought only men had groins. 🙂

I don’t see how you can tolerate that level of pain. It’s the worse I’ve ever experienced. I am now incapacitated, on the sofa worried about a pulmonary embolism while awaiting an appointment at vascular clinic tomorrow. My heroic wife is pushing me around on a wheeled mechanic’s stool until we get a wheelchair, too, tomorrow. I can only walk ~10’ on affected left leg, then must sit and regain equanimity. I wish I knew the specific causation… .

Oh, an attempt at a funny. In videos he’s usually seen grabbing his crotch as part of his dance routine.🤷‍♂️

Damn...I have the same upper right thigh/groin area which is interfering with my sleep. The docs, both general and neurologist just told me to take aleve 3 tablets 3 times daily. I have no recollection of injuring or straining myself. Finally got the doc to see me next week but we're leaving on a family gathering for Christmas and I am fearful of being laid up and spoiling the family vibe.

@stress , I have frequent neuropathy in the inner thigh in the areas where the cardio people have entered to do cardiac catheterizations for various purposes, stents, readings, etc. Something like 45 times in my life. Since I also have Clarkson's Disease (systemic fragile capillary syndrome), this has become a major problem. This form of Clarkson's, especially along with Gelsolin, makes the capillaries, along with their nerves, susceptible to easy bruising and breaking and bruising, I get the red- grey- black spots and larger areas all over my body from the punctures and damage. This neuropathy is the worst I have, inside the thigh areas. It even spreads out to the scrotum, goes as high as the belt, and half way to the knees. I can control it only with a half teaspoon of kitchen turmeric in a small glass of warm water when I rise in the morning. That is the only blood thinner I take besides a baby aspirin. I have Gelsolin, multiple forms of cerebral encephalopathy, many cancers, mostly of internal organs, nerves, bones, blood and fluid transport areas, and I bleed constantly from some place with my platelet problems. I can still walk 50 feet or more with a cane or a half mile with a rolling walker. @oldkarl
