DRG Stimulator
I’m getting ready to have the test phase for a DRG Stimulator made by Abbott.
Does anyone have experience with one of these devices?

Please read about Boston Scientific stimulator. An Abbot was supposed to be implanted into my spine but I’m going with a Boston Scientific. I have received a choice of four different ones and decided to go this direction. This company talked to me where Abbot offered very little info. I was lucky that my first doctors office really screwed up with documentation of my visit and couldn’t figure out what they we’re supposed to do on my implant.
Morning I had the Abbot stimulator put in on 10/26 My team helped tremendously. I have very little pain in my spine now, my pain is from both incisions and the muscles.I would do it again in a heartbeat just for the relief! I wish you luck!
Hello @markme, I would like to add my welcome to Connect along with @grannyzoo and @debbie2021. I have no experience with the DRG stimulator but saw your post and wanted to bring members into the discussion who may not have seen your post. @lorirenee1 started several other discussions on same topic and may have some suggestions to share with you. You mentioned you are getting ready for the test phase of the DRG stimulator. Can you share a little more what is involved during the test phase?
I had a DRG stimulator put in 2weeks ago. I have an amazing Neurosurgeon and Abbott rep. Their support is crucial. My trial worked at 75-80% less pain. So far the stimulator has worked but adjusting it is a bit of a management bc of surgical pain and, for me, abdominal pain.
Having support from the Abbott rep is a lifesaver. During the trial, he answered me every time I texted and it’s been the same after surgery.
The 1st phase is an invasive procedure, dr inserts 2 wires on the thoracic area I am assuming through a needle,, they hook the 2 wires to the battery pack on the outside. You can only sponge bath while that is in.Thank you
I did abbott DRG implant trial in Sept.2021 , their rep was excellent and the doctor I used explained everything very well but I got no relief at all. It was removed right in doctors office and I start searching for an answer to my leg pain all over again
It’s my understanding that the temporary implant is for 5-7 days to see if your body rejects it before putting in a permanent one. Look at all the options. Some of the permanent ones can be used with an MRI. I’ve been given an option of five different ones. My new physician is very knowledgeable and not limited to one brand. I’m very fortunate.
