I cannot answer about robotic knee replacement, but maybe @artscaping would like to address it.
When the cortisone injections stop working, it seems replacement is the only answer - when my hips were in that situation, I can only say that the pain relief was so wonderful that the surgery was totally worthwhile! Now I am hoping cortisone plus positional management will take care of my shoulders for a long time yet.
I use topical NSAIDs (Piroxicam or Diclofenac) massaged into the painful joints along with an antiinflammatory blend of essential oils.

Good afternoon @lucyk44 .....Yes, @sueinmn is correct.....once cortisone injections are unable to help with your pain, it is quite possible you are ready for a (TKR) total knee replacement. Sometimes it is possible to have a partial knee replacement. When you mention that your pain is on just the left side of the right knee, I thought about that situation. However, only your surgeon will be able to make that decision. I am surprised that you only had one day of relief from the cortisone injection. The injections I have had take up to six weeks to totally release. Then I have from 3 to10 months of pain relief depending on the barometric pressure, my exercise program, daily medical cannabis, and twice a week Myofascial Release Therapy (MFR) treatments.

My recent 2nd TKR was 10 years after my first one, so I think I postponed as long as possible. I chose a surgeon who performs the Mako Robotic surgery. If you haven't had a chance to learn about it, your surgeon should be able to show you a video and explain how it works and why it is a better choice.

1. It prevents surgical mistakes and mishaps by making a model of your knee from images taken for that purpose. This helps the surgery be less invasive and more accurate.

2. That, in and of itself, reduces pain, and in so doing shortens recovery time. I only used an assist for 3 days. I was driving at 3 weeks and had a ROM of 137 with an extension of zero in 6 weeks.

3. I was able to do modified yoga poses which helped keep the rest of my body limber. I can now do those that start with you on hands and knees.

4. The major impact of the robotic surgery on my recovery was the collaboration between my PT who played the demon role to get the stretches in even when painful and the MFR therapist who released the pain and kept the swelling down to a minimum. Often my appointments were back to back which was quite helpful. I am continuing with the MFR and have at-home PT for balance and stamina.

I chose to use no opioids, only medical cannabis for pain...using different dosages and types during the day and for better sleeping at night.

It is very important to do pre-surgery exercises. What psychical exercises have you been doing to keep the muscles in your knee firm and strong?

May you be free of suffering and the causes of suffering.
