@tarmansbks Hi again, M.E. I have IBS-C too, so can certainly commiserate with your struggles. My G.I. has tried me on 3 or 4 prescriptions, none of which have worked, and two of them have put me in the hospital. He finally told me I'm very complex and have a very screwed up bowel! ( no news to me!). He then admonished me in the very best way not to come back in my next life like this. giggle.
I'm presently taking one level tablespoon of Metamucil with cold water first thing every morning , together with one dose of Lax- a-Day ( natural psyllium product) every morning, mixed with my coffee. It doesn't alter the taste of the coffee. If I feel constipation is getting to be a problem, I've been stopping just one morning's dose of Metamusil (my doctor disagrees with that, but it works for me. I know my own body, after 86 years!) The " dose" of Lax-a-Day, for me, is the "highest marker" on the lid of the container.
Like you, I have nausea, no appetite, etc., and can't tolerate my used- to-be favorite raw or cooked vegetables or even meats. No raw fruits either, except for canned sliced peaches or pears. No sweets. No gluten or lactose products. Chicken breast, salmon filet, and cooked carrots are my boring daily dinners, and pea soup or chicken vegetable soup with 2 ounces of gluten free cheddar cheese and gluten free crackers are my lunch. Breakfast is one rice cake with peanut butter and Lax-a-Day- laced coffee, together with the Metamucil. If I'm not too nauseated, I can choke down two soft- boiled eggs once or twice a week.
I hope you get good help soon. Warmest wishes, Laurie
Just a FYI. Costco has excellent prices on the Orgain , 20 g protein. Excellent because of no soy
