@tramansbks. Hi. Have you tried any of the meal replacement drinks, such as Boost, Ensure, etc.? I have serious IBS and am on a very restricted diet because I can't tolerate so many foods. Until recently, I had diarrhea every single morning, and of course, weight loss. A dietician and my doctor directed me to drink 2 or 3 Ensure (best for lactose intolerance) per day, especially the higher calorie one, at 355 calories. I prefer the 225 calorie type, (not as rich tasting) and love the chocolate one! Even with my meager
food diet, I've been able to maintain my weight now. I also love plain rice cakes splathered with peanut butter - an excellent source of protein and great for weight gain maintenance too. I suffer from nausea as well, so have lost my appetite completely. It's a struggle for you, I know, but maybe these suggestions might help you. I hope so. Warmest wishes, Laurie

Hi Laurie, spent 6 hours in Hershey Medical Center E.R. this morning due to nausea and sensation in chest like I had swallowed a softball. Finally gave in and went up to E.R. No thoughts there on what causing the nausea as the gastro guru I see there has done it all. It was not heart related which was good news and all tests there were within range of normal. I think it must be reflux but I am not conscious of having it and I thought last week's endoscopy would show the impact of reflux and it did not.

When Jim had cancer, my sister bought him Orgain to drink to help gain weight and I order that from Amazon in non-Soy, no GMO, vegan, etc. in dark chocolate. Good for about 250 calories. The rice cakes sound good to me and I will try them. I can tolerate peanut butter. Seeing a dietician through Hershey Med this coming Friday to help me learn how to regain an appetite and weight. The odd thing is that I can't stand vegetables anymore and all my life they were my preferred food. Maybe I need hypnosis! I have IBS-C and it is a battle to come up with natural means of moving food through the system. I guess we cope with the hand we are dealt and hope some day to come up with an answer and solution. M.E.
