Visual Escapes and Daily Inspirations: Share Yours

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Mar 16, 2020

Let's create a space to offer a daily reprieve.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a lot of uncertainty and fear into our lives. Some of that fear and uncertainty can be caused by over thinking what is going on or unnecessarily worrying. So, I'm making sure I wash my hands frequently, not touching my face, staying away from social gatherings and all of the recommended guidelines to help avoid getting or spreading COVID-19 but it can be a little boring. I try to not watch news all day long while I'm in this self imposed captivity. I like to take pictures of birds and other creatures from my window as a welcome break.

I invite you to join me in sharing pictures, favorite poems, sayings, mottos, funny moments. Let's take a daily break together.

Nothing like a warm spot in front of the fireplace, on a snowy day. Tessie found an empty kindling box left on the rug and has a new "happy place".

Saw this little guy on my feeder yesterday morning. I missed a shot of a pair of cardinals after the sun was going down. They were feeding off of the ground after I refilled my feeders and the light was not very good.

Oh, he looks chilly! We have been watching our acrobatic squirrels trying to feed on the peanut butter treats I put in the suet feeder, can't get a good photo through the screen though. So entertaining for us in the cold.

Hi John,
I just want to thank you for this site and the opportunity to read about and share many similar feelings and similar pain. It is always nice to know we are NOT alone with this miserable constant pain! I use my weird sense of humor to carry me through each day, and as you know, comment in this wonderful group quite often. Thank you for all your kindness as we go through the wild antics of PN. You are a magnificent help!!

Thank you for the kind words @fala. Hoping you have a great day. It’s a balmy 4 degrees here in southern Minnesota. Sure happy I filled the bird feeder yesterday 🙂

Fun pet game. When my son was growing up, we had the most wonderful standard poodle (large). She was so smart and loved to play games. My son played hide and seek with her. I would hold my hands over her eyes while he hid in a good-sized 2 story home. When I released my hands, she would run through the house looking in all the hiding places, behind doors, under beds, behind sofas, you name it until she found him. When she found him her tail would just about spin off. Sooo cute! We didn't teach her to hide, she was always the seeker. Loved that dog. Everyone that visited our house wanted to take her home. Her fur was long all over so she looked like a giant stuffed animal.

How does a cat say "it's time to rub my tummy" in body language? 🤣

Here's a little display of peacefulness. My current artistic passion is the serenity of blue & white and the simplicity of Japanese Shibori designs. This is my newest display in our local art gallery.
