Considering the devasting lost of your spouse and dog, I'd say you are doing extremely well making it day to day.
The anxiety is what happens. Period. It can put our lives at a stop--horrible. Give yourself the best treatment you can, forgive yourself, love yourself.

It will take a while to get thru all this. I'm living a similar situation. Trying to just live day to day is an effort. My rescued dog is not the same, but she helps. I so understand.
Most likely there is nothing physically wrong, but anxiety is taking its toll on you.
You are doing everything correct.
Recommend the best therapist you can afford for neuropsychological support.

Thank you linamend. I was never one to face a battle without courage that I can overcome an obstacle. I was paralyzed totally from polio when I was 10 months old and life has been a series of compensations mostly met with success but not 100% perfect but how many of us can claim that 100%. Yes, our rescued dog is not the same as the one we loved and lost but given a chance and time, you and I have given an opportunity for our new companions to be as much loved as the former ones.
