@tarmansbks Thank you. As I might have mentioned, she loves studying the Zohar and the Talmud. She attends classes on Zoom and is observing holidays and getting up the nerve to go to Temple. It's great to see her blossom. She is truly happy. And you're right, converting to Judaism is a huge deal.

Suzanne, I had a used bookstore at one point in my life and was trying to recall what the Zohar was as I know I didn;t carry many mainstream religious books but did carry books on Judaism. I am sure the Zohar presents much of interest. I recall reading James Michener's THE SOURCE and thinking how much suffering the Jewish people have endured over time. It takes courage to embrace a religion outside your usual sphere of experience. I salute your sister for making the effort. She should not fear going to Temple. I went to morning Mass at a small church to get comfortable with the service - could not receive the host but could participate otherwise. Perhaps she can watch something on You Tube that would make her first visit comfortable. When I was in Luther League in Jr. High, our group went to a Temple on a Friday night and a Greek Orthodox church another time. I loved those experiences. She should not fear attending, I am sure she will be welcomed. M.E.
