I am a American Tinnitus Association tinnitus Coach with severe tinnitus and moderate hearing loss. I conduct tinnitus support group classes here in Daytona beach, FL and support anyone over the phone or by internet Zoom. I was trained on white noise and cognitive behavioral therapy. I am an avid 13 year volunteer who was taught tinnitus support from a tinnitus professor here in Florida, University of Florida Health. Brain retraining with white noise, pink, lavender can help you retrain the brain. This is not a short process it takes time and coaching and a positive attitude. Hearing aids helped me so much through amplification and sound. Please stay positive, active if possible, visit only a seasoned tinnitus Audiologist for a true diagnosis and get some help. Good Luck to you.

Thanks for the recommendation - I will be seeing the audiologist in 3 weeks. My tinnitus has gotten bothersome enough that it overrides soft voices sometimes - a change for me, as I have had it for over 35 years, so I can no longer ignore it easily. I may be back for some tips and training afterward.
(PS - @julie04 - it was also a low-conflict way to get my husband to go to a real audiologist. "We both have issues, let's get this settled..." And I will be in the room, so I can write down what the audiologist actually says to each of us.)

Hello I've had tinnitus and hypercucasis for several years now. Needless to say it's been difficult to put mildly. Anyway taking a flight to Mexico, which meets I'll be on the Flight for 6 hours
I know can where my ear plugs, but my audiologist said not to where noice canceling headphones. Also is it alright to wear the ear plugs for the entire flight? Thank you
